WHY?

Why? (The bombing of the Mariupol Art School).
This figurative work is a response to the war in Ukraine. It depicts the bombing of the Mariupol Art School, one of the many tragedies inflicted upon the Ukrainian people. As an artist I had such a heart felt response to the bombing of the art school that I was moved to recreate this event from my imagination and the painting almost painted itself.
A work in oil on stretched canvas. In the Zorn palette of ivory black, cadmium red, titanium white and yellow ochre pale. He also used colbalt blue if he needed a more vibrant blue which I have used in this case in the Ukraine flag.
